One idea OBSERVATION

The single most interesting thing in what investors said publicly this quarter — not a recommendation, and not a prediction.

Twenty-three investors say they're bearish on long-duration Treasuries, but only two of them actually hold that position.

Darius Dale and Michael Howell have skin in the game. The rest — including Andrew Sarna, Bob Haber, Chris Whalen, David Freeberg, David Rosenberg, Ed Yardeni, James Waller, and Jamie Dimon — have voiced the bearish view without positioning for it. The gap between public conviction and portfolio action spans eight named talkers to two named holders.

Counted from the corpus: 23 people are bearish on LONG_DUR_TREASURIES; 2 of them actually hold the position.

Convergence watch NOTABLE

Independent managers converging on the same name, same side, within days of each other — the rarest agreement shape on the board. The facts and the honest history of what followed setups like it; what to do with that is yours.

Has this worked? OBSERVATION

Every convergence we have ever flagged, priced from the next session’s open and measured against SPY over the same window — 201 of them at 60 sessions.

Average +1.51% vs SPY, but the median was 0.00% — the typical convergence matched the market exactly, and 44% beat it. The average is carried by a small number of large winners, not by being right consistently.

Rich premium today VALIDATED

What this means: if any of these is a stock you'd own at the right price, today is a well-paid day to sell its put. We check three conditions, each independently validated on ten years of real option quotes — every one, on its own, earned put sellers more per trade than selling on a random day:
high vol — the options are expensive in absolute terms (IV ≥ 30)
top of its year — premium in the top quarter of that name's own trailing year
post-drop — the stock fell 5%+ this week; protection is being bid
More conditions = a better day. Signal is from last night's close and typically persists days, not hours — verify the live quote at the open. The example contract is the shape our validation used: ~40 days out, ~20-delta, held to expiry, assignment acceptable.

The c8alpha take

AVGO's numbers hit after the close tonight, and the semi complex had already shown its hand this session — DELL was rewarded sharply while CRDO was punished just as sharply in the same day, a day after its own report, which means the sector is making fine distinctions right now and the reaction window for anyone in the space is narrow. A three-day streak of outsized call flow in LNG, at IV levels toward the top of its recent range, has the texture of sustained institutional buildup in energy rather than a single-day catalyst — the kind of pattern that has leaned in the direction of the flow more often than not in recent history. VOD drew roughly fourteen times its normal options volume in a single session, almost entirely in far-dated calls concentrated into one strike, with barely any equity move to confirm it — that gap between flow and price will either resolve as early positioning or wash out, and tomorrow's tape will start the answer. Gold caught a bid today after a rough week, landing against a backdrop where sixteen different managers have gone long within ten days — crowded in the voice data, and the base rate for that kind of convergence has historically leaned positive over the following month, though nothing in the recent tape has been particularly confirming. The sharpest read of the day may be the simplest one: close to two dozen investors have made public bearish cases on long-duration Treasuries, but only two of them have actually put money behind it — a gap between conviction and portfolio action that has a way of closing abruptly.
